What inspired you to start Good Karma Styling, and how has your journey evolved?
I started Good Karma Styling because I wanted to empower women to make more sustainable fashion choices. Having worked in fashion for years, I saw how difficult it was for consumers to understand what to look for when shopping more consciously and how so many women are stuck in a cycle of purchasing the wrong items. Over the years, the service I offer has become more bespoke—no two clients are the same!
How would you describe your personal styling approach, and what makes it unique?
I take a holistic approach, considering each client’s lifestyle, physical wardrobe space, relationship with their clothing, and desired personal style. I combine my extensive experience in fashion styling with my work as a yoga teacher to create a unique approach that not only transforms your style but also shifts your beliefs about the way you look.
Why is sustainable fashion important to you, and how do you help clients make more conscious choices?
As stylists, I believe it's our responsibility to help clients shop more sustainably. With the prevalence of greenwashing and the overwhelming number of options available, how can consumers be expected to make educated decisions?! I introduce each client to sustainable brands they’ll love while also empowering them with simple, practical tips to shop more mindfully.
What are the most common wardrobe challenges your clients face, and how do you help solve them?
Not investing in quality wardrobe staples! So often, I see clients happily spending on occasion wear they may only wear a couple of times but hesitating to invest in a great pair of jeans or an organic cotton T-shirt. I highlight how purchasing these core items makes it so much easier to put outfits together and mix and match different styles.
What are your top three tips for someone looking to refine their personal style?
Create a mood board on Pinterest with your style icons, favorite brands, and looks you love.
Try a wardrobe cleanse! Are there items you're holding onto that no longer fit? Pieces you haven't worn in years that just don’t suit your lifestyle anymore? Donate, sell, or recycle these pieces to streamline your current wardrobe.
Make a shopping list and only shop with purpose! Look for sustainable brands, avoid man-made fabrics where possible, or shop preloved.
Can you share a client transformation story that really stands out to you?
The fast-fashion lover—she told herself she couldn’t afford the higher-priced items on her wish list, but when we cleared out all the poor-quality, ill-fitting, and dated fast fashion, she saw that she had been wasting thousands of pounds buying the wrong items from the wrong brands. She now has a timeless and versatile wardrobe that truly reflects her personal style.
What’s one sustainable fashion myth you’d love to debunk?
That sustainable clothing is always more expensive—there are brands to suit all price points!
What’s your favorite sustainable fashion brand or discovery lately?
Most of my clients will tell you... I love DeMellier! Their Vancouver bag is at the top of my wish list.
How would you describe your personal style in three words?
Cool, comfortable, and timeless.
As a busy mum and business owner, how do you balance work, family, and self-care?
It's a challenge! My husband and I have been carving out time in the mornings for exercise, and it really sets the day up for success.
What does a perfect day off look like for you?
I love to start a Saturday morning with a yoga class before enjoying brunch with my husband and three-year-old daughter. We recently bought a cottage in Brackley, Northamptonshire, and are slowly renovating—so afternoons are often spent planning décor, doing DIY, or enjoying a bit of gardening if the weather allows!
